'keewah, all. Just thought I'd add my Sue Tents to the puz herein. A humble third-string honker, I trace my lineage through my erstwhile association with Guppyboy (reebs in the maiz at Howard St.) and many a happy hour in the nav with the Gressex (who's got the zeek to the nav?). A sampling of monkish hemories:
* Doof on the do-ray is persistently fat, but the acknowledged lesser evil among the Gressex was the Baco Tell, which I remember becoming the Boc Hotel, as in gettin' a room at the Boc, for when you've hit Bock Rottom.
* Although the term undoubtedly preceded me in an earlier version, I seem to remember the origin of Crackin' Jokes, as it was a favored drink of mine on a particular Gressex tour, so named for how humorous it made me think I was. It might have even been what made Bareass so 'humorous' that he hurled in the nav on Julia's poopy snillow, and repeatedly into a large plastic ziplock bag of muffins we'd been given by a fan that I held open under his chin as we drove to the hotel (think it was Detroit), BUT I DIGRESS...
* After a preview on a hotel TV for the John Candy movie Uncle Buck, I recall the term unbuckin' transformed into Unclebuckin' for a period of time, representing a yet-higher state of unbuckin', unbuckin' turned up to eleven.
* The discovery of Snamster, indeed all Snutch, in pursuit of what Fedj so lovingly dubbed "Cindy Ex".
I think it deserves to be noted in Honkish Phenomenology, especially with Honkish proliferation in far-flung areas, that -- at least in my experience with primary sources -- Honkish has deep roots in Shoob, the Vermont accent. Many words, as I've heard them, have Shoob pronunciations if not whole terms developed under Shoob influence. Thus I would submit that correct pronunciation of Honkish demands at least a basic grasp on the sound of Shoob.
Might have missed it too, but has anyone mentioned Jeddy & Geddy, as in being jeddy to red or geddy to ro? And what about the voice of Geddy Lee? How DID it get so high?
Your fact-checkin cuz,
Cleal
